Alexandra Jefford is an English, London-based jewellery designer and a favourite of the British art world. Her last jewellery show in London was at the White Cube Gallery in London where Jay Jopling, its Director, and other luminaries from the world of contemporary art collecting fell for her strong and poetic creations.
Now in her early thirties, Alexandra studied fine art at Central/ St Martins concentrating on etching, sculpture and drawing. After graduating she pursued a career as an artist and illustrator. In 2001 she began designing jewellery, developing further many of the original ideas and themes she had explored in art.
Alexandra Jefford approaches each piece of jewellery as she would a sculpture: using a sketch as a guide, she models the wax into different forms, searching constantly for the ideal setting for a gem or a pearl. Once the right combination is found, she then assembles the piece and has it cast. What she likes in this process is that there is always an element of surprise, leading to a more spontaneous and original work.
Perimeter is the exclusive representative of Alexandra’s jewellery in France.
